- ➤ Hamilton native Malik Verdon, currently a linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons, surprised Riverview Elementary students today by giving out new sneakers through the Just a Pair of Shoes program and sharing an inspiring message (students also designed art for his cleats). WLWT
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Since recreational marijuana was legalized two years ago, local communities have received nearly $36 million in cannabis tax revenue. Seven Mile, a village of about 700 people, got $430,000 from Bloom Medicinals while Monroe and Columbia Township also benefited & local officials plan to use the funds to improve services. WLWT

- ➤ Hamilton teen Kaitlyn Roberts won a $20K scholarship from the local VFW for her essay on patriotism that highlighted her community support for veterans. She will represent Ohio at the national competition in Valley Forge in April. Journal-News
- ➤ The Fairfield board will vote on sweeping budget cuts on March 5 — the proposals follow public forums amid a forecast $9.5M deficit in fiscal 2026. If voters reject the May 5 tax, staff cuts and program reductions will take effect next school year. Journal-News
- ➤ Tango, a new therapy dog, debuted at Fairwood Elementary today thanks to community donations from American Legion Post 138. The three-year funded program aims to lower student anxiety, boost reading confidence, and expand therapy dog support to every school as donations grow. Journal-News

- ➤ Officials in Hamilton County are on alert after the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security warned about the synthetic drug cychlorphine, which (ten times stronger than fentanyl) has been linked to overdose deaths in Eastern Tennessee.
