ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Oxford Lane Library closed after a small fire occurred Tuesday just after noon in the Children's Department. The branch remains closed while investigators address the recurring issue with the light fixtures (damage was minimal and all were safely evacuated).  WVXU

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Forest Park-based Faxon Machining received a Department of Defense contract worth $473.23 million on Jan. 29 to produce bomb bodies and containers — the deal covers BLU-136/B units designed to replace cluster munitions — which supports national defense production.  Local 12 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Hamilton’s Advanced Manufacturing Workforce and Innovation Hub opened Monday as a $31 million project (with Miami University, Butler Tech, OhioMeansJobs, the city, and Butler County) to train workers for complex manufacturing jobs and revitalize a long-vacant building.  Journal-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Sixteen young adults graduated from the Easterseals YouthBuild program today at a local venue as they marked the completion of their career training. The ceremony celebrated their achievement and the program's role in building essential skills.  FOX 19 Now

  • At its annual Wednesday night presentation, the Mill Creek Alliance in Hamilton shared data on Mill Creek’s rebound and future plans for a kayak kiosk at Salway Park + another at Yellow Bridge, noting improved 2025 water quality with ongoing industrial runoff challenges.  WVXU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cincinnati approved a $1.5M loan to keep the Mill Creek Valley Conservancy District afloat as it prepares to manage the flood control barrier dam and channel once the Army Corps finishes construction. The loan (no repayments until year 7) will fund revenue development, an executive hire and community outreach.  WVXU
